GURU (BRIHASPATI) GRAHA SHAANTI PUJA
According to Hindu scriptures,Guru or Brihaspati is the Guru of Devas, the personification of piety and religion, represented as the Purohit of the Gods with whom he intercedes for human beings. He is of Sattva Guna and represents knowledge and teaching. He is often known simply as "Guru".
According to Vedic astrology, he is the Karaka of wisdom, intellect, and eloquence, fate, fortune, children. His Tattva or element is Akash or ether, and his direction is north-east. Guru Dosha leads to poverty, selfishness, hurdles in education, and begetting children if badly placed in the natal horoscope. He presides over Guruvaar, Brihaspativaar, or Thursday.

A person who has a debilitated (Neecha) Guru in his natal horoscope, is undergoing a period of Guru Maha dasa or sub-dasa, or if the planet Guru is in association with any malefic planets by conjunction, aspect or is placed in the 3rd, 6th, 8th or the 12th house of the natal horoscope, or if Guru has the lordship of a malefic house and posited in a benefic house and vice versa.
